Corporate identity: why isn't it just a logo?

When a business begins creating its corporate identity, the first discussion usually revolves around the logo.

It makes sense. It is the most visible element of a brand. But it is not the brand.

The brand identity it is an entire system: color, typography, photography style, graphic elements, materials, tone of voice, applications, and guidelines that allow a company to appear consistently across different touchpoints.

From a business card to a website. From a physical space to packaging. From a presentation to a social media post.

Consistency builds recognition.

Here is the translation into English: "Strong brands don't need to constantly repeat their logo to be recognized. They have created their own visual and verbal code. And this is one of the main goals of corporate identity design: to create a system distinctive enough to be recognized, and flexible enough to evolve.

Before the design, there is a decision.

How do we want the person across from us to perceive us?

Modern? Expert? Approachable? Bold? Calm? Technical? Human?

The answers aren't chosen simply because 'we like them.' They must stem from the position the business wants to occupy in the market. That is why at ABC Design Communication, the creation brand identity begins before the first design draft.

It starts with strategy. Because a good corporate identity doesn't just decorate a business. It makes it recognizable as what it truly wants to be.
