The challenge was to create a packaging range for Ilida olives aimed primarily at international visitors to Greece. The product needed to move beyond the look of a simple food item and become an authentic piece of Greek gastronomic culture — a premium keepsake that tourists would want to take home with them. The design had to be honest, story-driven and visually striking.
Our central idea was “Transparency and Tradition.” Strategically, we wanted the packaging to act as a “window” onto the Greek land. We decided that the most powerful way to communicate authenticity was to show the product itself, without filters, and to connect it directly to the human effort behind it. The packaging wouldn’t just wrap the olives; it would frame them as small works of natural art.
The result is a harmonious blend of modern and traditional elements, creating packaging that is both informative and emotionally engaging.
Most of the pack is transparent, allowing the olives to be the true protagonists. This choice builds trust and highlights the quality and freshness of the product.
At the top of each label, a black-and-white, artistic photograph of the olive harvest tells a story of tradition and human labour. This detail adds a sense of timelessness and authenticity.
Each of the eight flavours is given its own bold colour identity (red, blue, green, etc.). These modern colour blocks create a strong impact on the shelf and help the consumer navigate the range with ease, while forming a striking contrast with the monochrome photography.
