Nyssos wanted to create a premium range of flavoured olive oils in metal cans for the tourist market. The challenge was to transform an opaque, metallic surface into something that feels fresh, transparent and visually enticing — while communicating the naturalness and taste of each variety, from Chili to Basil, Garlic and more.
Our central idea was an “Elegant Illusion”: to make the viewer see inside the can before even opening it. The strategy centred on creating a visual effect printed directly onto the metal, giving the impression that the ingredients are “floating” inside golden olive oil. This effect brings the product to life, making it feel immediate and appetising, as if captured at the moment of preparation.
The result is a design that turns a simple metal can into an object of art and culinary curiosity. The realistic depiction of natural ingredients (such as garlic, basil or chili) on the metallic surface creates a striking play of light, while flat colour blocks differentiate each flavour and enhance shelf recognition.
ABC Design Communication crafted a package that blends the technical precision of metal printing with the artistic aesthetics of food design, delivering a collection that radiates freshness, authenticity and Mediterranean imagination.
